As you can tell, this mobile was difficult to name & difficult to take pictures of! It is very pretty though and I love it. The pictures don’t do it justice, with the cloudy days & location of this mobile – in a closet over the day care changing table.
I’ve had this in mind forever & finally got started on it. Once I started I couldn’t stop & finished it yesterday in between everything else instead of everything else? I should have been doing.
It’s made with paper shapes cut with punches or my Silhouette, beads, buttons, and circles cut from milk jugs. I wouldn’t recommend using your nice scrapbooking punch to do that – it’s pretty hard on it! They look neat though!
I hot glued the dowels together (had them from a craft kit we didn’t use) and then wrapped them with wire. I wrapped wire around the dowels and knotted the fishing line to them before threading and knotting the beads and paper shapes on the lines. I probably should have spray painted the dowels and wires white but I didn’t take the time. It honesty really doesn’t matter and doesn’t show up much, but I could still do it.
I made these scrapbook paper covered canvases a while ago and they were bare until I decided how I wanted to finish them. They turned out mostly like I had in mind. The top one has cars & trucks on it, if you can make them out. The flower one has little plant stakes {from the Target dollar section in the spring} hot glued to it. I’ve had them laying around for a while now & realized they matched really well!![]()
The kids were awed by it when I changed them today. I can talk to them about the colors or blow on it a little and they’re distracted an entertained for a moment or two.

that's neat. I see these all the time on blogs, some day I'll make one
ReplyDeleteCool! I like how full it is. It's really neat.

ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea. I will need to make one. It sure does help entertain the kiddos while changing their diapers.
