What my 8 year old would miss the most about me

…if I was abducted by Martians!

Brett & Mom - Page 001

1.  Camera in his face! I take pictures almost daily. He may not miss this now but he will some day be so glad to look at all these fun pictures from his childhood.

2.  Clean jammies.  He wears them once and puts them in the laundry.  He would run out so fast he’d be begging me to come back and wash some for him!

3.  Snuggle time with Mommy at the end of the day. We lay in bed (his or mine) and we talk about the day or read. We’d both miss this time so much!

4.  He would miss me getting him ready in the morning for school. He can do it, but needs constant reminders to stay on task. One morning he said “Mom, did I forget anything?” That’s what he needs me for, to make sure he’s remembered everything.

5.  Another thing he would miss about me, is the special way we celebrate holidays and make fun on ordinary days. I like to create a memory and that’s often focused around food, special activities and spending quality time together.

6. He would miss the love I have for him & his Daddy. No one else loves him like I do! I’m his Mommy! He would miss me taking him to his games, pushing him to practice piano lessons {ok, I don’t think he’d miss that!}, encouraging him to do his homework and telling him how much I love him all. the. time.

7. He would miss the treats I make for him – Luscious Lemon bars, key lime pie, brownies, cookies and salmon on the grill.

8. Brett would miss me cleaning up his room! He needs my direction to get it really looking nice. And making his bed well. Sometimes he tells me it’s all coming apart {blankets pulled out at the end of the bed.}

9.  He would miss all the fun in our house because I wouldn’t be here to provide day care for all his little friends. He loves having kids to play with all and all the activities around for him to participate in.

10.  I’m sure there’s much more he would miss {I hope!} but one other thing is being silly together. Telling funny jokes and a little rough-housing. Daddy doesn’t really rough house or wrestle with him. It’s just not his thing. Sometimes Mommy & Brett do it though. : )  Must have something to do with growing up with a brother.

Inspiration {80% off}

Our {very nice} scrapbook store is going out of business. Today at 5 pm actually. It’s a shame because they had such a nice store and selection, but to be honest, I hardly ever went there anyway. I should have gone in & used their die cutting machines for day care materials, but never did. I only do digital scrapbooking so I don’t need so much for scrapbooking, but now that I have a Silhouette, I wanted some fresh papers to work with. Anyway, we were driving by on Saturday afternoon so I had to go in. Everything left was 80% off. I started picking up papers I thought I’d use. After checking out, I had spent $7. That’s it!paper3sm

So I went back through & bought another stack. I got all of this, 94 sheets, including 12x12, some 8.5x11 sheets, double sided papers, vellums, and pearlized cardstock for $15! I saved $30. My brother says “No, you didn’t save $30, you spent $15.” Whatever.  What it looks like to me is fresh inspiration!  paper2sm

Flower Pocket Card

This flower was the free item of the week from the Silhouette shop. Love it! This card wasn’t mailed so I decided to put the flower on the pocket envelope. {The actual colors are shown better in the two middle pictures – it’s more lavender than pink}.fc1fcfc2fc3

String Spider Web {Little Miss Muffet}

Yesterday our nursery rhyme was “Little Miss Muffet”. After circle time we made a web with a spool of string, wrapping it around toys, chairs and whatever we could come up with. It was quite a tangled mess and it even went into the next room. Some puppets and even some friends got caught in the web. It was fun to make a tangley spider web!ww2w3w4w6w7w9w10

Home

I’ve had this picture for a while that I bought at a resale shop. I thought I’d find a spot for it but never did. It was worth holding on to for the frame.frame
I used my Silhouette to cut the leaves & the circle border. I’ve been wanting to make something with this verse.homesm

Stormy Gets Pampered

I found a Barbie hairdressing set second-hand for the kids to play with and it’s not just the girls trying it out….these guys were using the blow dryer (it works), brush and makeup brush on Stormy. He had been napping in the chair so he was very relaxed and didn’t mind.stormy2What’s going on here??stormy3
”I’ll wash, you dry.” washLooks like Stormy’s getting a curl too. The boys thought the curling iron was a scissors though.stormy5

Dinosaur Card

Brett recently received a special gift which required a special thank you card. It’s quite simple but not sure what else I’d add. Just glad to do something creative today.dinopuzzle

Valentines Use-Your-Stash Challenge {2nd post}

More cards I made for the Valentines Use-Your-Stash Challenge on istampscrapcraft. Most of these were sent to our family.

I liked the idea of using non-traditional colors.card 1

They’re rather “blinged-out”. I like it though.card 2

Another variation. These are made with decorative packing tape. ($1/roll at Michael’s).card 3

I especially liked this card with the purple & pink. The picture doesn’t do it justice, with the night time lighting.

card 4

This is another of my favorites too, even though it’s very simple. Quick & easy with my Silhouette!card 5

These are the cards Brett added to the valentines we sent our family. Those are thumbprint hearts.

I love you handprints

I loved this idea that I saw around various websites.
